For students who already possess a HNC in a engineering discipline. They may wish to take the majority of the level 1 units of the B.Eng (Hons) in Engineering via A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech Associates. This involves taking the A-1 Technical Fd-Eng (Foundation in Engineering - 4 HN units). It should be noted that these 4 HN units are all SQA accredited and are added to the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) students annual statement. It should be stated that the existing HNC qualification (units, etc.) has to be checked and deemed to be appropriate and satisfy the admissions requirements of the B.Eng programmes.
The main advantage via this route is that there is NO examinations involved. All modules are continuous assessment and on average involve approximately 4 TMAs (Tutor marked Assignments) to each unit. The similar units via the English University involve examinations and TMAs (fewer TMAs however).
Shown below is the complete cost of the A-1 Technical Fd-Eng, which leads directly into the English University programme for the B.Eng (Hons) courses in Engineering. The complete cost for all units of A-1 Technical Fd-Eng is shown below.
This route as with the HNCs in Engineering courses is, "PAY AS YOU GO ALONG". It is not a requirement to pay for the full cost upfront. However, enrolment with A-1 Technical Training and registration of the units with SQA is paid at the beginning of the course.

The remaining units of level 1 of the B.Eng (Hons) in Engineering are:
(1) Engineering Project (ENX105) - It is envisaged that APL will be given for the HNC engineering project previously completed.
(2) Organisational Environment of the Engineer (MEX103) - this short unit can be taken with A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech Associates. The teaching pack costs £50.00 and it is continuous assessment with TMAs. However, SQA no longer issue a credit for this unit. The University also deliver this unit as a continuous assessment. It is envisioned that APL can be obtained for this unit from a students past HN units/work experience.
(3) Engineering Mathematics (MAX129) - this unit is delivered by the English University and involves TMAs (40%) and a examination (60%).
(4) Introduction to Manufacturing (MEX108) - this unit is delivered by the English University and involves TMAs (20%) and a examination (80%).
After satisfying all the criteria for the 8 subjects above. The student has successsfully completed the first year of the HND in Engineering (Multidiscipline)and the B.Eng (Hons) in Multidiscipline Engineering.
A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech Associates advise all students to progress directly onto the HND in Engineering (Multidiscipline) and after successfully completing level 2, the student then has the option of accepting the HND in Engineering (Multidiscipline) and then transferring into the 3rd and final year of the B.Eng(Hons) in Multidiscipline Engineering. It also looks good on a students CV to show this natural academic progression.
As added support, A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech Associates will still support its students at levels 2 and 3 of the HND/B.Eng (Hons) in Multidiscipline Engineering, for a small nominal fee. However, at that level, in the majority of instances, it is often only direction that students are seeking and no fee will be charged. All that A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech Associates request is that the student will commend and speak highly of our good work to others.
