The EP 542 ultrasonic equipment
works by "listening" in a frequency band normally containing
no interference and non-audible for humans (> 20 kHz). Leaking
compressed air or electrical flashover (sparks) generates e.g. ultrasonic.
Audible noises from the surroundings are filtered off so that the
device can also be used in noise filled areas. If leaking a "buzz"
can be heard in the headphone and the sound level depends on the
size of the leak.
If looking for a very "small
minute" leak the directional probe can be applied to the sensor
at the top of the instrument and optimum listening-sensitivity is
achieved. Make sure to seal
all the leaks found at the examination as leaks cost money!
The EP 542 ultrasonic detector works
also as a "mechanical malfunction feeler" picks up interference
from movable parts through a stethoscope. The stethoscope only "listens"
to low-frequency mechanical vibrations so the stethoscope can also
be used in noisy areas.
EP 542 ultrasonic
detector can be used with the EP 512 - ultrasonic transmitter (see
picture above) that transmits pulsating ultrasonic. The transmitter
is placed inside an enclosure, e.g. a steel tank, that is then closed.
The user can then examine the tank from the outside perimeter (range
22 m) and can easily find any leaks, if any, which sounds like "pips"
in the headphones.
If requiring a detector
with an extremely higher listening sensitivity we recommend the
EP 2400 ultrasonic detector.
Noise filled
areas: If the noise level exceeds 80 dB we recommend using
an authorized and CE approved EP 921 - hearing protector.
Scopes of
application: industrial plants, workshops, laboratories,
hospital service, aeroplane industry, cars, etc,..
Accessory
equipment:
EP 542 ultrasonic
detector can be combined with EP 512 - ultrasonic transmitter and
can also be connected with an authorized and CE approved EP 921
hearing protector.
There is a 2 year warranty on all
EP ultrasonic detectors.
