Aim To develop an independent approach to problem solving, including planning and investigation.Learning Outcome At the completion of the module the student should be able to:
· Plan a project to ensure completion within a stipulated timescale
· Develop a project brief
· Implement a proposed solution
· Evaluate completed work against requirements
· Write a project reportIndicative Content Identification of needs, list objectives and define sub-tasks. Schedule activities being aware of known constraints. Investigates all alternatives for meeting customer needs. Identify interfaces between problem area and other systems where relevant. Justify the choice of particular solution. Write a specification of the proposed solution. Adjust plan if unforeseen circumstances prevent completion. Devise a strategy to test the solution, and appraise achievement in the light of the original objectives. Report the work clearly and concisely, using references as appropriate.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment:
An academic supervisor will be appointed who will negotiate and agree the project content, which will normally be carried out at the student`s place of work.
