To provide an introduction to the use of basic information technology for engineers.
Learning Outcome At the completion of the module the student should be able to:
Understand and use a word processor to write technical reports
Understand and use a spreadsheet for engineering calculations.
Incorporate graphical elements within a document
Indicative Content Formatting documents, headers and footers, margins, indents, justification, line spacing. Selection of appropriate fonts. Macros, templates. Graphic elements, including equations and figures. Annotation, contents, index.Spreadsheets, cell properties, functions and formulae. Dynamic links between multiple worksheets. The graphic representation of selected data sets. Annotation of graphs.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment The students will compile a portfolio of their IT based work during their studies at level one. This portfolio will form the basis of the assessment.100% Coursework.
